All I can say is I was in the war of 1973, and it was not the syrians that had heavy losses, but the israelis, I remember gazelle helicopters doing multiple trips and strafing israeli armor with machine gun fire and missiles, eventhough the israelis had almost complete air superiority. Our helicopters would fly really low to the ground, and sneak up on israeli columns that were never spread out. It was a slaughter until the israelis adjusted their tactics and started arming some of their troops with low altitude anti air missiles. The moment we recaptured the golan, egypt left the war for selfish interests, leaving the whole entire israeli army and airforce to concentrate all of their military forces on syrian troops.. The israelis were very close to losing the war, maybe 1 week more, and they would have buckled. And that is the truth of what happened..The israeli military is built to fight short, small scale warfare, and in the event of another war the israelis will lose
