"My personal feelings is that every representative regardless of religious affiliation should remain in D.C. I would say this if it was Christmas or some Muslim holiday." - Jane
And do what? THe bill would not fix the underlying causes.
Were this a bill which required the repeal of the Grahmm-Leach-Bililey Act and the reinstitution of Glass-Stegal, then it might fix something.
The republicans tanked the bill for a simple reason. They will never admit that it was their radical changes in regulation that created the situation.
I do not like the bill, because I feel the Fat Cats and RIchpigs that caused this catastrophe do not deserve to be rewarded. Even more that a total disaster is needed. The American people learned nothing from the deregulation of the S&L industry which resulted in massive fraud and collapses of S&s. The people learned nothing from the Enron debacle which was made possible by the republican theory of deregulation. Pain is a good teacher. |
