those who say Austrians want the Nazis back are fully mistaken. My parents were openly admitted into Austria when they fled communist Hungary, as were thousands of others. The problem with "anti-islam" and "anti-immigration" is, however: would you accept someone coming into your schools and claiming that your religious symbols be removed, because they "hurt" Muslinms´ feelings? This is what happened in Austria, with Muslim representatives claiming that the cross (=religious symbol of Christianity) be removed from classes. Or would you be happy to have illegal immigrants raping your daughters, braking into your houses and cars? etc. etc. (I´m not trying to say all immigrants are criminal, but it happens very often) And there ws NO anti-semitism at all in the election campaign. In Vienna, we have several well-functioning Jewish schools, institutions etc. (of course, also Muslim ones, Hundu ones, etc.) And, mind you, both right-wing parties have Jewish members holding important posts. |
