| Israel cannot prevail against world opinion, especially that of America. Israels settlement expansion has been unanimously condemned by the international community, including President Bush. These days, Israel needs the cooperation of the international community more than ever in the face of a number of threats. This cooperation is not forthcoming to the degree Israel would like, and the settlement policy is a sticking point. Even in his final days as PM, Olmert has acknowledged that there will be a west bank evacuation. The only question remaining is whether there will be any settlements left after the deal is done. Cases such as this can only help the Palestinian cause. |
