| Selling arms to Azerbaijan will only cause its neighbor, Armenia, to stock-up on Russian weapons as they maintain good relations (and backing) from Russia. The Govt of Azerbaijan has referred to Russia`s invasion of Georgia as a model to "settle" territorial disputes and it has one with Armenia, Nogoro-Karabahk. After your Govt. denied the genocide of Christian Armenians by the Turks, (presumably for defense contracts),supplying their muslim enemy with weapons can only be viewed as another unwarranted insult. As a nation which has also experienced Genocide,it is believed, (like Israel),that they too, have some nuclear weapons to prevent another one.A war in that region will surely draw Turkey (and possibly Greece) in as it is every bit as dangerous as your region. Just as Turkey and Armenia were beginning to restore relations after 90 years, to say this is "unhelpful" would be an understatement.Like Georgia, you`re playing with fire again. |
