| The truth is even graver than Yuval implies. More and more medical professionals of all sorts are leaving Israel. Not just doctors and nurses, but psychiatrists, physical therapists, laboratory workers, social workers and many other medical professionals have seen their dreams of working in Israel and making a livable wage shot down. If this country truly values it`s health care people will start to protest this situation. People like Dr. Shanon will be ousted from his post as sole arbiter of licensure and testing.And salaries will become competitive on the world market. Why would a doctor or nurse work here when they can be employed in another country at a much higher salary? A salary that reflects market trends. Why would western immigrants (and eastern for that matter) choose to stay here when their studies and experience is belittled by the Israeli ministry. For these reasons many Medical Professionals who have made aliyah are becoming yordim instead of staying.It`s time to wake up |
