When the US signed the NPT, the US agreed to IAEA inspectors being the ones to verify and validate accusations of violations of the NPT.

If the US wanted to assert that Syria was violating the NPT, then the US had one and only one option. That was to report the information to the IAEA for investigation. That is the treaty that the US signed.

But the US didn`t do this. Not before Israel struck (even though the US was fully informed before the attack. Not right after the attack (again, even though the US was fully aware of the accusations). And not when Syria went in to clean up the mess.

For the US to complain NOW is astounding. The US had 3 clear chances to inform the IAEA, and they failed to do so.

Which begs the question, why? What is it that the US wanted to keep hidden?
