| The Palestinians` insistence on making the return of the refugees a centerpiece of the final peace agreement with Israel is puzzling. Should they not be interested in the return of Palestinian diaspora to the newly established Pal State, instead? The Israelis are having a multitude of programs to attract and settle Jewish diaspora in Israel, and have settled millions of Jewish refugees, including hundreds of thousands of those expelled from the Arab countries. Israel would not and should not agree to allow many scores of thousands of hostile Pal. "refugees" to settle in Israel, when they can be settled in the Palestinian state right next door. The Pal. insistence on both the establishment of a Pali state AND the "Right of return" is a contradiction in terms. Perhaps they are not really interested in the creation of Pal. state after all? |
