Prior to 1948 palestine was often referred to as the homeland of the Jews certainly not of the arabs whoin the west bank were controlled by jordan and gazans were "controlled" by egypt. the term palestinians meaning arab homeland is a very recent political term adopted by arafat. In 1948 Israel could have chosen palestine for their countries name but chose Israel instead. For 60 years arabs, instead of creating a future, have put all their energy fighting and trying to expel the jews, not once have any of their arab leadership tried to convince them to peacefully coexist with jews. (He would have been assassinated). It is highly unlikely that todays arab peace overtures are genuine nor will they last nor will arab terrorism toward jews be curtailed. Abbas has no power to enforce anything. A genuine attitude toward peace would not have a NOW OR NEVER THREAT |
