| From all countries on this planet, Germany has a very special agenda when it comes to the conflict in the ME. This can be seen from many facts like the devastating polls which show that Germans despise Israel more than any other country, the biggest negative attitude of about 77% towards the Jewish state in Europe. Israel is not only a disturbing reminder of Auschwitz. It is as well a reminder of the shameful fact that the perpetrators of the Holocaust never stood trial and could make a pleasant life in post-war Germany, rewarded with fat pensions. If Israel can be demonised, Germans can support more easily their own failure. In this atmosphere, Jews are in a very special situation. Einstein once remarked, he became a Jew mainly by the hate of the anti-Semites in Germany. This was more than 80 years ago. It shows again that a people do not really change over a few generations. |
