There`s been a big gap in Israeli political history since the time of Golda Meir and the prominence of Tzipi Livni as a political player in today`s international scene. Different narratives for both women. I`m not particularly in agreement with this notion of the glass ceiling about women in politics or any other non-traditional field. I believe that it is the make-up of the woman, from their formative years and interests, which are the decisive element in their interest to participate in politics, social issues, etc. and really nothing else. Usually though, these women are perceived as strong and independent types. There`ll always will be male chauvanists and old-fashion types, but a lot of men are getting much better. Nevertheless, women do need role models and mentors in any field.
