| Israelis have an inordinate love of revenge. There is nothing wrong with this. Where Israel goes wrong is taking out revenge on the wrong party. For example, Hizbollah stages a border raid and captures two injured IDF men. The next day, Israel is bombing apartment blocks in Beruit. It is impossible for anyone outside of Israel to "connect the dots" between these two events. In Israel it is obvious, "We are attacked by Arabs, we retaliate against Arabs". It seems so simple when stated thusly. The problem is that Israel quite often retaliates against the wrong Arabs? What`s that you say? There are no wrong Arabs? No wonder Israel is looking to the world to bail them out of the mess they have gotten themselves into (again). |
