This is not the "tide of history" and, irrespective of what political messaging and tactics the Palestinian leadership may choose, this absolutely need not be the result.
As has always been clear, the only just solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is two states for two peoples. It is also the only solution that will ever bring peace and prosperity to the parties and region.
To simply claim the existence of something -- what is in fact an absolutely false choice between Jewish nationalism and universal democracy -- does not, and cannot, make it so.
The only just response to any such shift in Palestinian political messanging is a flat denial of the legitimacy of such message with a firm assertion of the unanimously accepted principle that neither leadership is entitled to deny both Palestinians and Israelis their shared right to a just two-state solution.
My only point above: McCain will not have the int`l credibility to make this case; both Obama and Biden will. |
