| For an ideological revisionist like Mann the only solution is huckering down even when Syria`s potential gravity shift towards regionalism is so plausibly self-interested. Because Syria`s interests do support the shift they appear to be contemplating, the best way forward is Livni`s negotiation of all issues with the Palestinians, and not moving on the ground until the agreement has been vetted by Palestinians and Israelis. This keeps the peace negotiations going in a positive direction and increases Israel`s maneuvaribility in the game of nations, without giving up assets until the price has been properly vetted. So don`t confuse Livni with Olmert, Henry. Olmert`s discussion of moving settlers smells of indecent haste for personal historical credit. |
