"the disengagement [from] Gaza taught us is that under no circumstances must IDF forces leave Arab terrorist to take control in their absence. Do not make the same mistake over and over." (Baruch Gold)
Be assured that no one, not even the most outspoken opponent of the foolish and suicidal settlement enterprise is advocating another unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank. At least, not anymore, now that our own leaders have insanely allowed Hamas to develop into such a menace to peace.
Not that Israel has anything to fear from a Hamas state - we have already had to confront much serious existential threats.
The UNILATERAL disengagement was indeed a terrible sin against the state, and an additional humiliation for the man the Palestinians had elected for their President only six months earlier.
But it was not a "mistake". On the contrary, it was a very shrewd and calculated move whose hidden goal was to further weaken President Mahmoud Abbas, and thwart the emergence of a pragmatic, moderate and strong Palestinian leader - strong from having behind him a large majority of his people. Which has always been the very last thing our foolish leaders have been interested in.
PS: Just curious. Are you of those lunatics who are holding Baruch Goldstein the massacrer - as their national hero? |
