The lesson from Gaza is that governments lie.
They touted the Disengagement to Israelis as a move towards peace, but didn`t even consult the Gazans left behind.
They promised generous compensation and relocation to comparable circumstances, but had nothing ready to go. They`ve dragged their feet since to make it more traumatic for everybody, Israeli and Palestinian alike.
They, after the fact, wouldn`t even allow the toxic waste to be removed from the settlement ruins in Gaza for months on end. Then they schemed to come up with the unworkable monstrosity of the Rafah Agreement that needed 4 separate governments (5 if you count the US) to simultaneously agree before a Gazan could come or go to Egypt on any particular day.
And yet the Israeli parties keep recycling the same corrupt political hacks. |
