| All politicians instinctively tell people what they want to hear. This is how the politician gains support and votes. Sometimes, when there are two competing viewpoints requiring the politician to choose, the politician will support the viewpoint which will bring him the most support and votes. After all, politicians that don`t tell the people what they want to hear do not get elected. One must have priorities! In any case, there is no organization in place that is opposed to the views of AIPAC. This makes it a slam dunk that every American politician on every level will say what AIPAC wants to hear. For the politician it is all (potential) gain with no chance of losing support or votes as a result. Of course, in practice, it is not so simple. We see the current administration pressuring Israel about peace and settlements. This trend will continue and grow, regardless of AIPAC. |
