| would have liked to see resolution to addressing the Jerusalem issue sooner than 5 year timetable proposition, however the sensitivity of the Holy city`s status to both Jews and Muslims is the obvious reason. Perhaps we must respect the contentiousness from both sides of this dilemma and understand this complication or difficulty in reaching a consensus now. With ongoing settlements being built up by Israel in Jerusalem surroundings and then stating the reality on the ground has changed, etc. how is this going to be better by that time? Delay tactic or real sincerity? Perhaps Israel has to commit to refraining from building in East Jerusalem in the interim to having the Palestinians accepting a framework for two-state agreement. The status of Jerusalem remains a legally standing international site, despite either side`s wishes of belonging under its own sovereignty. |
