Your hypothetical question is excellent. Thanks. There are so many simple, inexpensive ways by which Israel could quietly and calmly change the locked-in dynamics of this cyclical violence. Blame aside, Israel holds all the cards in this conflict and can initiate a fresh direction; a starving, traumatized and occupied community has little chance for anything but surviving day by day..
This occupation has apparently poisoned Israel?s soul to such an extent that they now seem incapable of constructive humanitarian gestures like you mentioned. A pathological, primordial hate has consumed the occupiers and they are, in a sense, the occupied by that hate. You can read examples of that same racist hate here in some of these comments . The Palestinians are too busy trying to survive and defend themselves to think beyond the daily gunfire. It is noteworthy that Israel?s occupation has caused it to have the highest number of Conscientious Objectors in the world. They see what?s really going on and are telling those who listen. Unfortunately they are frequently reviled and silenced with criminal elements with much to hide.
