The banner says that "Abbas rejects idea that Palestinian refugees in Lebanon will be forced to stay (AP)".
And the articles fails to say who is behind this idea or who asked the question which prompted Abbas` rejection.
The Palestinian refugees in Lebanon NEVER wanted to stay in Lebanon, and most Lebanese people do not want the refugees to stay. This issue has been kicked around so many times and for so long, so why are these "ideas" being floated again and again?
People throughout the globe become refugees when they find themselves in danger in times of conflict - witness the situation in Iraq, Georgia, Darfur, etc. Once the conflict subsides, the UN makes sure that these people return to their homes. Palestinian refugees should not be the exception. |
