I fondly thought about Abie and his peace ship as the two boats sailed into Gaza Harbor last weekend. Many of us remember that voice coming over the air together with the sound of waves, of birds calling, the voice of Anwar Saadat saying "No more war, no more bloodshed" and lots of good music.
We Israelis and Palestinians need people like Abie Natan today - people who will be daring enough to bypass our governments and their cul-de-sac policies and break the blockades and the stalemates and the dead end policies. He left his legacy and did more than his share for peace. More like Abie and we will get there. Yihieh zichro baruch. |
