| ?If someone is to blame or be responsible in this case, it is the girl?s family? How do you propose that the very nucleus from which the abuse stems will expose its own condition? The Israeli community at large, itself fragmented and damaged, has not the wherewithal to recognize the intricacies and implications of abuse and mistreatment, nor the ammunition to tackle it. I am personally inundated with cases of Israelis, residing in Toronto, who have suffered child sexual, physical and emotional abuse. The problem is inordinately immense yet Israeli leadership fails to grasp its scope. Eventually a major breakdown will take place, all the more difficult to diffuse since every sector of Israeli society is infected. It?s not enough to publish these articles once in a while as a result of some jaw-dropping atrocity. Truth is the gaps between one atrocity and another is not nearly as wide as their publication and reporting lead us to believe. *proportionality of abuse from secular and religious homes is equal. |
