| Part of the reason dislike for olim from the former USSR is so common in Israel is their propensity to lie to get what they want. It`s one thing when a Soviet Jew fabricates a persecution story to get to the U.S. or Canada or Germany. Will they ever learn to not lie to other Jews? The ways that may have served them well in other lands do not work in Israel, they harm Israel. Look at this story: "...who had fled the Russian army that had bombed their homes"? Russian army most certainly did not bomb their homes, or else they (and the Tbilisi airport, and Georgia itself) would not be there anymore. Georgia, however, did two weeks ago destroy the Jewish Quarter in the South Ossetian of Tskhinvali. Just do a Google search for "tskhinvali synagogue". Also, Saakashvili was not shy to play the anti-Semitic card against Badri Patarkatsishvili, the now dead Georgia`s richest man, an opposition leader who ran in 2007 against what he called “the fascist regime” of Saakashvili. |
