The individual is part of a family, is part of series of communities, is part of a socieity.
Where communities and religions support and promote assault and murder, why is it only the individual is guilty? Did the individual just get up in the morning and decide to commit a crime? When settlers attack Palastinain shepards, do you think whoever influences them, whether family, rabbis or other leaders have no responsibilty? When some guy from Tel Sheva plans to murder Jews, are his influences equally innocent?
Lumping innocent with guilty based on group identity is horrible. Exculpating group behavior from responsibilty for the actions of an individual is a whitewash. You have to look at all of it. In this case, it includes the would be murderer`s family, school, friends, religious group, and let the blame fall wherever it should. |
