What Borat did is use Belarus TV instead of Kazakhstan since most idiots would think that Kazakhstan is very similar to Russia. He even used Russian, Polish and Hebrew language to reinforce the stereotype to those idiots! Voila, it worked for them!
Now, Cohen, playing Brueno, uses Germany instead of Austria, since the Americans stereotype Austrians and Germans the same. They would even confuse the bloody name of Australia with Austria! |
