Treaties are promises and promises can be broken if it suits the other side, remeber Hitler and the Munich agreement that if the British allowed him Sudatenland he would not invade Poland.
Neville Chamberlin came home waving his treaty promising peace in our time then months later Hitler invaded Poland leading to WW2
Syria can permit terrorists unoficialy to launch attacks from the Golan. Oficialy he is doing everything possible to stop terror but its just token gestures for image but Assad says he is doing his part
As I said he will probably demand a share of the waters from the Kineret which is Israels primary water supply he has allways demanded that in the past and still demands it.
The Golan is valuable to Israel in many ways and standard warfare is not obsolete Lebanon prooved there was still a place for tanks and infantry on the ground missles are not the be all and end all
Peace treaties are for idealists in the real world its all that matters is Israels tactical interests |
