Title:U.S. support for Israel not certain
Name:Mark
City: State: USA
I`ve been a long term supporter of Israel (including financially), even though I am completely against Israel`s de facto unwillingness to craft a just peace with the Palestinians.

The U.S. HAS HAD a special relationship with Israel, but it seems likely that this will weaken over the middle term, given the following:

Israeli and American interests are ever more out of sync. It doesn`t make sense for the U.S. to be in a state of perpetual hostility with the Islamic world, even though Israel seems to prefer that.

Israel has been successful in managing the American political process, but eventually the Arabs are going to become more sophisticated in doing the same thing--and the money they`ll be able to dedicate to that is an order of magnitude greater than that of the Jewish community. Money talks in American politics.

Finally, the U.S. has generally been a friend to Israel, but Israel hasn`t done the same for the U.S. Americans are slowly coming to realize this.
