| The U.S., like everyone else, wants to back a winner. American aid to Israel was insignificant until our great victory in the Six Days War of 1967. American support for, and respect for, Israel has declined markedly since we adopted the sick policy of appeasement. Until Oslo, America regarded Israel as an important strategic asset. After Oslo, Disengagement and the last Lebanon War, America`s perception changed. Olmert`s pathetic "we are tired of fighting" speech did still more damage to Israel`s reputation as a desirable ally. The answer is simple. We must totally abandon appeasement and reclaim our status as a strong, determined nation. We can`t do this without a very different, much stronger and self respecting leadership. |
