| When I feel ashamed of my muslim heritage, it is good to listen to fundamentalist christians like Mike Huckabee. They remind me that a lack of respect for the lives and well-being of other peoples is not limited to people from the Muslim world. Huckabee, like many Christians and Jews, wants all of the former holy land populated by Jews. The physical fact that those areas are populated by Muslims, and the welfare of those individual Muslims, is little more than an afterthought. The liberal democratic values on which America (and the Western World) is built is a distant memory. |
