I hate to say it, but reading the interview of the Mayor, this really comes across as a form of Apartheid. Literally, separate development. Pretty much every country has to contend with refugees or immigarion. The fact that the Sudanese find it easy to get jobs in Eilat is testament to the fact that they`re needed. Thus, they`re making an economic contribution, and so why can`t they receive "normal" education for their kids.
By the way, Eilat is one of the most pitiful tourist resorts I`ve ever been to. The boardwalk is a tourist company`s worst nightmare. It`s got expensive shops right next to a dingy market selling cheap rubbish. It`s kind of like having Camden Market right next to Harrods. Not a place I would rush back to.. |
