Defense minister Ehud Barak and other senior military officials use the excuse of cutbacks and budgets for Israel`s failure to defeat its enemies. But the real reason has nothing to do with budget. Israel`s failure is a direct result of the failed military decision making of its leaders, who instead of relying on old fashioned, time-proven military doctrine (which emphasizes deterrence and controlling enemy territory), use bloated military budgets for hi-tech wizardry and officer`s perks. I think that Barak is the one who made up the concept of the "small, smart army". This is the real sin.
All of Barak`s veiled threats of "impending security challenges" is just spin for more of the same. |
