| The original cold war ended as America was considering putting a "missile shield" in place over their homeland. There were technical difficulties which made the concept impractical at the time, and the idea was shelved with the breakup of the Soviet Union. A few years ago the idea was rekindled and now included placing a missile shield over Europe, including some ex Soviet satellites. This is a serious provocation to Russia, who has threatened to attack Poland if Poland was included in these plans. The imminent change in the American administration will likely end all this craziness which should never have been started in the first place. If there were to be another cold war, this would be bad news for Israel, because, as in the original cold war, the Russians would give much support to the enemies of Israel. Israel is seen as a proxy state of America and is more likely to to be the primary battleground, since the Russians could then use their own proxies, Iran and Syria. |
