| Russia can never be trusted again to observe international law or the rights of nations. Russia has violated the United Nations Charter with its aggression against the sovereign state of Georgia. Russia is repeating its imperial ways that were common practice during both Tzarist and Communist regimes. The occupation of Eastern Europe after WWII, as well as the military crushing of the revolutions in Hungary, 1956, and of Chekoslovakia, 1968, are not forgotten. Russia`s unbridled aggressions and its uncivilised ways will be remembered for a long time. Whoever thought that Russia had entered a new era of international cooperation was sorely mistaken. Lost Russian honour and prestige will take a very long time to restore. |
