In the 2006 war, we saw that the IDF was over rated and over confident. They lost the war to Hizbollah in detail. This seemed mostly a failure in leadership at several levels. The IAF has had it easy over the past couple of decades. Their missions were exclusively the destruction of apartments, or cars, or bridges or power plants, all undefended. All nearby. An attack on Iran would give Israel a new appreciation of the fact that they cannot have control over every element of their lives and those of their enemies. Some problems require a different solution than to go and bomb them. This is the lesson Israel must learn. Israeli leaders dream of another Entebbe or Osirak mission. What they will get is a worse version of the 2006 war. Israel will opt for peace only when peace is the best deal they can get. Currently, this is not the case.
