| In order to be an Israeli, one has to excel at "compartmentalized thinking". For example, in Beit Hanun a couple of years ago, an Israeli artillery "accident" destroyed an apartment house and killed over 20 Palestinians, including a number of children. Hamas orchestrated a rocket attack upon Sderot in response. The response was puny and killed nobody, but Israelis were able to ignore or justify the damage done by the IDF and focus their outrage on the rocket attack on Sderot. This is compartmentalized thinking. In the same way, Israel has flooded the west bank with settlers, encroaching on the Palestinians, who are held in tightly controlled ghettos. Ultimately, the Palestinians would need to go somewhere and the world supported a Palestinian state in the west bank. Settlers ignored this prospect and concentrated upon cheap land for themselves, devil take the future. Now the devil is here to collect, and the settlers are unhappy. That`s too bad. |
