As early as Sunday, reports said that 2,000 civilians had been killed in Georgia. In 2 days. There has been some grumbling but no "international outcry" over these deaths. In comparison, Israel fought a war in Lebanon for 30+ days. Different reports indicated that 1,200-1500 had been killed. Approximately 600 of this number were Hizbollah and Iranian Republican Guard fighters. Perhaps these figures will convince you that Israel did not target civilians and made every effort to avoid civilian casualties - this is always paramount for the Israeli army, no matter what you Israel-haters think. Do the maths: Russia 2,000 civilians in 2 days Israel 600-900 civilians (too many) in 34 days
Perhaps now you will appreciate the difference. |
