Please help wake up Israelis to the knowledge that the democracy called the U.S. owns possessions called Puerto Rico and Guam, etc.
Those citizens do not have the right to vote for U.S. national offices, yet they are perfectly happy. Yes, it can be done and there are excellent models. No, Israel does not have to be voted out. Those who do not subscribe to the principals of Israel can indeed have a different status: to vote for local administrations, while enjoying the rights of other citizens. To participate, however, they must subscribe to acceptance of Zionism as the founding principal of Israel. Of course the wards of UNRWA will have to be moved elsewhere, as they cannot be expected to accept the requisite terms for residence in this unified state. So let`s take a good look at this option: In return for and end of war, recognition that the Land of Israel belongs to Israel, and the right to vote requires such allegiance, it might not be such a bad deal for all. |
