| Georgia believed all the hype about the US being a "great power," and is now paying the price for it. Israel has been sheltered by the US for a long time, but soon the US will be both unable and unwilling to shelter Israel. There are some Israelis that think that Israel is strong enough to stand on its own, but they are just delusionally over-estimating Israel`s strength. The bottom line is, Israel is ultimately doomed unless it changes a lot of its thinking. Olmert may be a terrible leader, but I get the impression that he full well understands just how limited Israel`s real options are and how little time it has left. So, all those that think Israel can continue to oppress the Arabs and can attack Iran, are just living in a fantasy land and the hard reality is going to hit them right between the eyes one of these days then they will deeply regret all the opportunities they missed by over-reaching for land and power. |
