Robin, who says that based on a hourly rate, teachers in Israel get paid well, is out of context! Teachers DO work more hours, but they do it at home. They constantly prepare for their class, and their pay should reflect this hard work. You cannot measure the teachers` salary by dividing it to an hourly wage; it doesn`t make sense. Such a low pay to teachers reflects on the disrespect manner of the system towards teaching, learning, and education as a whole. Teachers should get paid very highly. After all, they are the ones who teach doctors, engineers and all other professionals how to become better in their field. Should you not have excellent well-respected teachers, you will not have good professionals. |
