The Syrians do not regard the Israeli occupation of the Golan as a strategic threat nor do they equate the loss of the Golan to the loss of Lebanon in terms of importance to the long term security and stability of Syria .
Pre conditioning the Israeli Syrian talks on Syria withdrawing its support and supply of weapons to hizballah is an Israeli indulgence in absurdity given the fact that the only reason Israel is talking to the Syrians is because of the threat that these supplies pose to Israel .
It is a lot cheaper for Israel to stop violating Lebanese sovereignty and withdraw from the shibaa farms then to engage the Syrians in mutual wishful delusions. |
