They actually go out and compete on the world stage athletically and take a quit a few medals." Uh, the purpose of the Maccabia isn`t to be a consolation prize for Jews who aren`t in the Olympics, but to foster Jewish unity and awareness among Jewish athletes. Jews representing dozens of different countries, have participated in every Olympics since 1896, and Jews have brought home medals for their countries in each one. Not too shabby for a group that represents less than 1% of the world population! |
