| A similar thing happened to me. My ex was haredi and I wasn`t. It took me 3 years to get a get- and in the end he extorted me out of child support and custody in exchange for the get with the backing of the Rabbanut. I had been getting child support from Bituach Leumi because the ex refused to pay, so he went to Bituach Leumi and lied and said the kids weren`t living with me and they cut me off without checking during a 3 month strike - so I couldn`t talk to anyone. I was left with no money for food or rent and had no choice but to leave Israel to stay at my parents` to start over. I couldn`t take my kids out of the country because the ex put a restraining order on them (through the rabbanut. The kids didn`t want to go live with their father, so they ended up in government dormitories, while I left penniless after 30 years in Israel back to the USA..
