| Often someone claims that Pollard did not do it for the money. Pollard had a good job as a government employee (GS-11). His spying had no overhead costs. He did it all on company time and using company assets. He should not have had to take the money if his motivation was purely ideological, but he did take the money. Large amounts on a regular basis. He also shopped his classified material to Pakistan and South Africa. These are the actions of someone who is in it for the money. It is possible that money wasn`t his only motivation, but it certainly was his primary motivation. The Pollard of today came into being after he went to jail. He "reinvented" himself as an Israeli patriot. Most people, as always, believe the thing which makes them most happy. It makes me happy that Pollard was caught, a victim of his own hubris and excess. |
