On Thursday, August 8, 2002, my Grandson Noah Roth was Bar Mitzvah on the Great Wall. According to our gracious hosts Rabbi and Mrs Freundich, "this was the first time that a Bar Mitzvah ceremony and the actual Torah scroll itself was read on the Great Wall of China." Noah today is a student at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri.
The Roth family has several connedctions to China. In WWII I was assigned to Chinese Intelligence. In 1985 I OPENED THE FIRST FOREIGN BUsiness in Henan Province
and in 1992 I established the first Israeli business in the same province. |
