Why are they still being allowed to not do the army service which is a requirement of all citizens of Israel except of the severely handicapped? There is a special brigade for the ultra orthodo, so there is nolonger a justified reason for the exemptions. Is the blood of a secular young person less valuable than that of an ultra orthodox young person?
This exemption given to anyone studying Torah must be eliminated, this is a small country that will need all its sons and daughters to defend it when war comes!
There is nowhere in the Torah that says one must worship and study Torah all day long and do nothing else,infact the Torah encourages work and defending the people of Israel look towards the Macabees and Joshua who did both! |
