| I would like to tell Joseph that he has my support and admiration for his willingness to stand up for his belief. I am Lebanese originally. I always despised the religious intolerance of a lot of people in the Middle East. If a person decides to convert to a different religion, he/she is jeprodizing their life. It is not just religion intolerance but intelectual intimidation from society and culture. If a person has a free mind that does not conform to the rigid norms and values of society. They have to be careful of what they say. As a woman, I am always appalled on how badly woman are treated in the Middle East. It makes me so angry, but yet it is useless to argue with the closed minded people who degrade, disrespect their own female family and even kill them at first sign of a young falling in love. Palestinian society as a whole will not allow a man or woman their absolute human right to live their lives as they see fit. |
