Turkey has been a secular nation for almost a century. During that time the military has had to step in on several occassions and take the reins of the government in order to keep it secular. These occassions have been peaceful and were not the same thing as a coup. The Turkish people, by and large, prefer a secular government and they will have a secular government. If the current government is considered "too Islamic" they will be stripped of office and life will go on.
