| Listen, I have seen Alexandria why and also come from an Arab Jewish family. Jews and Arabs lived pretty well together in the Arab world for the most part for hundreds of years. It wasn`t acceptable to marry a non-moslem like a Jew, it wasn`t a crime to do business with one or even befriend one, but just like in Jewish culture, it was a taboo to marry someone outside of the faith. I don`t think any of us will argue that the religious Jews of Israel today would sing Hava Nagila if a Jewess from Rehavia was to marry a christian Arab man from Haifa. Nevertheless, it should be remembered that after the Zionist movement, relations worsened by far. |
