I`d imagine Ha Aretz could of spent two minutes and pulled up some relevant statistics as to the disparity the father was talking about. That would have given this "article", and the father, a little more weight. As it stands, all the problems that their people face does not get noticed, and so you end up with the Unabomber, and the bulldozer incident, and still no mention of the "disparity in the standard of living" - something that could be easily backed up by objective numbers - but was not.
The Palestinians don`t have much of a voice in Israel, and so it`s unsurprising that they are both angry and frustrated. This leads to these sorts of clashes. Look at the (black) civil Rights movement in the USA. It only ended when they were afforded equal rights and representation, and (most importantly) - respect. |
