| Iron dome was a waste of $300 million The interceptor rockets cost $30 thousand each, a terrorist rocket cost $10 each, the terrorists have about 40,000 rockets and fire an average of 2-3 a time. that would mean firing about $90,000 worth of interceptors for every rocket attack. How long can we afford to keep on iron dome once we have the finished product its going to devour the millitary budget. The phlanx cannon has been operating succesfully in Iraq for a number of years now. It fires relativly cheap shells which can be mass produced easily enough and the system itself is cheaper than iron dome which wont even be able to do the job as the short flying distance from Gaza the thing has landed before the interceptor hits it. The phalanx isnt perfect but its alot better value for money and more effective than iron dome. |
